Spring Forward!

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,”
Philippians 3:13 NKJV

Some things are intended to move with us.

Memories. Love. Lessons learned.

Others are meant to be forgotten and buried such as regret, disappointment, and fear.

Spring as a verb means to move in a forward direction; it also suggests momentum and height.

Some of us have lost our momentum. Others are not reaching high enough to attain the promises and abundance God generously gives.

In the above verse, emphasis is placed on the “I do.”  This indicates that it is an active and continual process to forget those things which are behind and reach forward.

It takes an effort to let go of pain and hurt. Remaining somber and disgusted won’t make the memories and emotions fade. It takes a concerted effort to forgive and forget. It takes a determination to reach, think, and look forward.

But it is God’s will for us to look forward and to look up to Him!

In spite of the many miracles experienced by the Israelites on their journey toward the Promised Land, their faith did not overcome the temporary discomforts of moving to a better place. They complained.

A lot.

In fact, their lack of faith, complaining, and the poor report from the spies sent to survey the land promised to them angered God so much that these naysayers never lived to see the promise fulfilled (Ref Numbers Chapters 13 and 14).

We would do well to learn from their mistake!

Spring, new blooms and the Easter Season will soon be upon us. This is the perfect time to renew our minds and spring forward in whatever manner “forward” means for you.

Forget what lies behind.

Embrace the new!

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert,” Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

  1. Such a great post, Lilka. I am reading through the Old Testament now and I see a lot of the Israelites characteristics, not the good ones, in me. Conviction. I can’t wait to get to the New Testament, sister 🙂

    1. You are not alone! I was convicted a few nights ago about being judgement and prideful something I erroneously thought I had long grown past. I was consoled after repentance in the assurance those God loves, He corrects! Thank God for the New Testament. Enjoy a very Blessed Resurrection Weekend 😀

  2. Important words…beautiful lesson!! Thank you, my friend. I truly feel your words and the blessing they speak to me. There has been much lately that I need to work through…deal with…forgive…and get on with living the good life!
I hope you are well ❤

  3. Oh yes it does take effort to put behind us those things or persons who have deeply hurt us. There is such synchronicity in your post, dear friend, for me today. For you see I was earlier pacing in my home deeply thinking of someone who insists on showing me pure rage and hatred. Today the hurt came into play. That is when the “Voice” spoke …. This person is so bound by her own “sins” she has committed against you that now those evils have twisted her mind in projecting towards you the vileness that in reality, is hers to bear testimony to, not you. I prayed, I took a deep breath, and chose right then just like Spring, to move forward, leaving this behind me. As of today I have stopped being troubled about something that is not even mine to be troubled about. Amen!! Thank you, Lilka.

I LOVE your pictures of Spring. I groaned out loud because Winter is making a very slow retreat here. Yet I saw to my astonishment white Crocuses coming up through FROZEN ground and snow! I plan on getting pictures of this as a testimony of God’s Miracles that Mother Nature shows us if we but eyes to see. Much Love to you!!! 🌷🌸🌹

    1. Mother Nature can teach us much! I’ve had to force myself to move forward on a few things and people as well! But when we CHOOSE to seek peace and walk away is when our blessings manifest! Peace and hugs to you Amy. B Blessed! 😀
