“Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter”
Psalm 143:9 NKJV

My “yard cats” know exactly where to go in times of trouble. I’ve watched them hightail it up this tree in mere seconds. Unfortunately, we aren’t always as quick to run to our safe haven.

Some of us are quick to turn to friends. Friends who often offer a wealth of advice even while struggling to manage themselves.

Others prefer to “Google it” and see what can be found on that world wide web. It can certainly draw us in, sometimes tangled and deceptive, offering as much misinformation as good.

If only we were as quick to seek our Father/Shelter in times of trouble what angst we would spare ourselves!

As we go through life’s trials and unexpected turns, we can choose to rely on ourselves and other people. Both are imperfect choices.

Or we can turn to God. sanctuary 2 cats blsd 15

God’s Word holds the answers we seek.  Only God can provide peace and protection. Come to Him all who are weary and heavy laden.

Some of us are so accustomed to running, we don’t know how be still. Instead of running away from your problems run to God. Trust Him to take your burdens, whatever they are, in exchange for the peace and refuge only He can offer.

Never underestimate God’s love for you!  Run to Him and be blessed!

From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

  1. Oh Lilka, I want to be like your gorgeous kitty and run and hide right up in that tree – lovely photo. 🙂 But I know that by turning firstly to God, He is always there, ready to listen and help. Actually, he would be in that tree too! The scripture you quote at the end is one of my favourites, and today, reading this, my heart is filled with comfort and hope. Thank you so much…blessings, peace and love to you my friend, have a beautiful weekend 🙂

    1. You are so correct. God is with us at every turn!
      The kitties in the tree humor me. They allow me to feed them and they sleep in the rocking chairs on my porch but I can’t claim that they are mine. The come by at their leisure, usually around breakfast time of course!
      Be filled with comfort and hope. Our God certainly sees us and never leaves us. Peace and Love to you! Enjoy a wonderful weekend. Hopefully it’s warmer there than it is here! 🙂

  2. It’s not always easy to trust in the unseen, but “KNOWING” that our God is a very present help in the time of trouble is what gives us hope, and that peace which surpasses all human understanding. Thank you for this very timely (as always) post my sister.

    1. And thank you Carl for taking the time to stop by and comment. God’s shelter is ours yet we sometimes get so distracted by our problems that we fail to run to Him! It’s one of my “areas for improvement” that I am working on 😉

  3. So very timing that you encourage this verse this very day ~ it is the signature verse for my Daughter ~ I posted it to the back of a photo that I keep on my desk just for her ~ or should I say….just for me. As a parent, I found early on that it was the circumstances of my children that I would often find myself with a heart so overwhelmed ~ it is this verse that grounds me back to my Rock ~ my precious Lord. Thank you ….I was pondering this verse today. God is Good ~~ Amen: Y
