Give It Up!

Give up self-sufficiency

Give in to Christ and be set free

God knows our faults, yet loves us still

Our hurts and pains are His to heal

Give up your sorrows, give up your fears

Look back no more on your lost years

Give up dwelling on past mistakes

Enjoy life! Give yourself a break!

Look up to God, enjoy His wealth

Give up the focus on yourself.

Christ paid the price that we may live

Eternal life is God’s to give

Our spirits ache and yearn for God

Accept His gift, it’s not that hard

Don’t die a death brought on by stress

You’ve tried all else; Trust God, Be Blessed!

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,  casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

    1. Thanks so much! I’m pretty sure that’s the first poem I’ve “published.” It just kinda came out of nowhere 🙂 Thanks for checking it out and taking time to comment. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Thank you for your words here today. In particular I need to be reminded to give up “self sufficiency” and “cast my cares upon Him, for He cares for me”. Today, our team have an important meeting with our Managers in which, we hope, they will tell us about our future (after 1st April 2015). For courage, I need to fix my eyes on Jesus and be upheld in His arms. Please pray for me. Julia x

      1. Thank you for your prayers. Today we know a bit more. At work we have been given 3 months notice that our service contract is coming to an end. After that we may be taken in by a new employer and be doing our job differently. There is a 3 month period of consultation. I find sudden change hard. I prefer for things to evolve more slowly. 3 months will go quickly. I am also being pressed from 2 sides about 2 different volunteering options. My Mum is recently bereaved me and in her new loneliness needs me. My husband has just started a new job which involves an hour and a half commute (on crowded roads). He is finding it tough going at his age. Most of the new trainees are 20 to 30 years younger. I want to be there for my Mum and my husband. I also need space for me to re-charge my batteries. Space with God and you fellow bloggers. I am perplexed by indecision and lack of information. I need to take baby steps and follow your advice in your poem above: “Trust God. Be Blessed”
